White on White

The performance of "White on white" took place in Vitruvian Thing, Thessaloniki in 2019 as an open rehearsal.

White on White is an alternative approach to S. Beckett’s poem “Ping”. It is a text without a narrator nor dialogue that consists of word partners organized only by full-stops. The being articulating this monologue is struggling between two undefined states. It strives through episodic memory sequences, that do not follow a stable pattern to resonate a reality while ignoring the past and the future-a vicious circle. 

 

The two artists put together a performance where sound and image are either interrelated or substituting words of the original text. A sound environment in a white-cube type of space is turned into a place of random memories, discovery, and experimentation. The performance consists of music improvisation and an experimental video projection creating an immersive experience
